Spatial Development Frameworks -
- Must be compiled by municipalities in terms of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, 2000 (Act 32 of 2000).
- SDF will include a land use policy which will guide desired patterns of land use in the municipality.
- SDF will include the spatial reconstruction of the municipal area including inter alia “the conservation of the natural and the built environment” (Section 16(2)(a)).
- The Land Use Scheme will determine the purpose for which each piece of land in which the scheme applies may be used (Section 21(1)(b)).
